This Earth Day, families, educators, and young explorers are invited to go beyond celebration—and step into action.
StoryWalking, founded by creative storyteller Wendy Nadherny Fachon, introduces the Eco-Detective Challenge, a hands-on Earth Day experience designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and environmental responsibility in children.
Inspired by the engaging podcast EcoPirates on the Cove with Ms. Wilson, this initiative transforms Earth Day into an interactive adventure. Instead of simply learning about nature, participants are encouraged to explore it, question it, and protect it—one small discovery at a time.
With an easy and engaging flow —listen → download → explore → create → share— the challenge is designed for both families and classrooms to participate effortlessly.
At the heart of the experience is the Eco-Detective Mission Guide, available on the StoryWalking website. This thoughtfully crafted companion invites children to step outside, observe their surroundings, and investigate “tiny trash,” helping them understand how even the smallest actions can make a big difference for our planet.
Participants can submit their discoveries via StoryWalkerWendy@Gmail.com, creating a meaningful connection with the StoryWalking community. Selected entries will be featured, and participants will have the chance to receive a special StoryWalking prize.
“Earth Day is a reminder that caring for our planet begins with awareness and small, meaningful actions,” says Wendy Nadherny Fachon. “Through storytelling and exploration, we hope children begin to see themselves not just as observers—but as caretakers of the world around them.”
Visitors to the website will be welcomed with a special feature:
“Join the Eco-Detective Challenge This Earth Day!”, making it easy to jump right in.
More than a one-day activity, the Eco-Detective Challenge is designed to inspire ongoing curiosity and connection with nature. By blending storytelling with real-world exploration, StoryWalking continues to nurture a growing community of environmentally conscious families and young learners.
