CogBias AI Launches Chrome Extension to Catch Biased Language Before it Distorts the Data

PR Newswire

New browser extension flags cognitive bias in real time across surveys, emails, chatbots, and research tools — helping teams ask better questions and gather more reliable feedback.

ATLANTA, Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- CogBias AI, the company on a mission to help teams ask better questions and make better decisions, today announced the launch of its Chrome web extension. The extension brings CogBias AI's real-time cognitive bias detection directly into the browser, flagging leading, loaded, or otherwise biased phrasing the moment it's written — in surveys, emails, chat interfaces, interview scripts, and other research and communication tools — and suggesting neutral alternatives on the spot.

Bias in question design is a quiet and expensive problem. A single leading question can render a survey useless, distort a customer interview, or send a chatbot down the wrong conversational path, and the teams relying on that data rarely learn that the answers were shaped before anyone gave them. The extension is built to catch the problem at the source, before a question ever reaches a respondent.  With the new extension, users can:

  • Detect bias in real time — the extension scans text as it's typed and flags specific words and phrases that carry cognitive bias.
  • Get AI-powered rephrasing suggestions — the extension suggests neutral alternatives immediately, so fixing a question takes seconds.
  • Lives in the browser — the extension travels with the user across surveys, emails, chatbots, and other web-based tools, rather than living in a single app.

"Most bad data doesn't come from bad intentions — it comes from a phrasing choice nobody thought twice about," said Anatoly Shilman, CEO and co-founder of CogBias AI. "We built this extension so that catching bias doesn't require a separate step, a style guide, or a second reviewer. It happens right where the writing happens, in real time, so teams can trust the answers they get back."

"Every survey question does two things at once: it asks, and it nudges, and decades of cognitive psychology show that nudge shifts answers in predictable ways" said Matt Altobelli, Chief Science Officer of CogBias AI. "CogBias makes it visible, pointing to the exact wording that carries a bias and explaining how a respondent is likely to react."

The extension builds on CogBias AI's core platform, which research, product, and customer-insight teams already use to design surveys and interview guides. Moving that detection into the browser makes unbiased questioning part of the act of writing itself, available anywhere teams are already working, rather than a review step at the end.
