HAMILTON, ON, Oct. 27, 2026 /CNW/ -- Biidaaban Renewable Energy LP ("Biidaaban") welcomes today's draft publication of the targeted amendments to the Clean Fuel Regulations and specifically the inclusion of a 1.4x credit multiplier for Canadian-produced biodiesel. More than one year after the amendments were first announced by Prime Minister Mark Carney, Biidaaban sees today's release as an important signal to the Canadian biofuel sector.
The credit multiplier approach outlined in the draft amendments is a critical step towards leveling the playing field for the Canadian biodiesel industry, which competes in the domestic market with subsidized American imports. Biidaaban is encouraged by this draft measure to support the use and development of made-in-Canada clean fuels from facilities like Biidaaban's biodiesel facility in Hamilton, Ontario.
"We are pleased to see the Clean Fuel Regulations amendments move closer to the realization of a credit multiplier with today's publication," said President & CEO Tim Haig. "The draft credit multiplier for biodiesel is a welcomed signal that Canadian product can now be competitive in our own market and will be a key part of enabling Biidaaban's relaunch of the Hamilton biodiesel facility. What's needed now is its quick implementation to give the Canadian biofuel industry the policy certainty it needs to respond."
