LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22, 2026
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- For 35 years, L.A. Works has brought Angelenos together to turn their desire to help into action. On November 5, 2026, the LA nonprofit will mark that milestone at its 35th Anniversary Celebration at the In-N-Out Burger Sound Space at KROQ, honoring five-time NBA champion, Los Angeles Lakers legend, and 97.1 The Fan LA morning show host Derek Fisher with the inaugural L.A. Works Community Leadership Award.
The celebration will bring together community and business leaders, volunteers, and supporters for an evening of live entertainment, food and cocktails, special appearances, and stories of community service. The event will take place from 5:30 to 8:15 p.m.
Event sponsors include NBCUniversal, LAFC, Kaiser Permanente, and Audacy.
"Thirty-five years ago, L.A. Works was founded with a vision that when people come together in service, they can create meaningful change," said Deborah Brutchey, Executive Director of L.A. Works. "Derek Fisher has shown us what genuine partnership looks like. When he came to our MLK Volunteer Festival, after inspiring thousands of volunteers during the kickoff, he met volunteers, asked questions, and took the time to understand the work they were doing and why it mattered. That kind of genuine interest is what we value in our partners, and the way Derek continues to put that commitment into action is why we're so pleased to honor him as the first recipient of the L.A. Works Community Leadership Award."
L.A. Works aims to raise $35,000 through the celebration to help support its work to help create a culture of volunteering in Los Angeles.
